POEM: Long Walk

LONG WALK

From son to father

From child to adult

From village to city

Long walk

From Transkei to Johannesburg

From school to college

From prisoner to president

From rural to urban

Long road

Long walk

From apartheid

To friendship

From enemy

From apartness to partners

From struggle to peace

Long walk from segregation

From separation to combination

Trouble-maker to peace-maker

Indeed a long walk

Long walk my hero

My inspiration

My saviour

The son of a chief

The fighter of segregation

The source of peace

A lawyer by profession

A president by sacrifices

By struggle,

Hate,

Fights and suffer

Tears and pain

He still stands still

And still walking

From robin island

To ruling the land

From prisoner

To president

From prisoner to leader

From tears

To joy

Long walk Tata

Long live the spirit of you Nelson Mandela… Thank you
